Course Overview

The API 982 certification is designed to validate the knowledge and competence of individuals responsible for the inspection and assessment of refractory linings in refinery and industrial equipment. It aims to establish a recognized standard of proficiency, ensuring that certified inspectors possess the necessary skills to evaluate refractory systems effectively. This certification enhances industry confidence by identifying qualified personnel capable of performing inspections that promote equipment reliability, operational efficiency, personnel safety, and process safety.

Course Features:

  • Voiceover lessons and practice quizzes after each lesson
  • Practice quizzes are graded to provide a measure of self-evaluation
  • Quizzes will provide feedback with the codebook section reference to increase familiarity with the codebook layout

Exam Preparation

  • The API 982 exam is 4 hours and 30 minutes long.
  • The exam 150 questions that are scored. There are 15 pretest questions which are not scored.
  • Paper, notes, and outside reference materials are not allowed into the exam.
  • The exam has a set passing scaled score.
  • There will be a brief tutorial on the computer-based testing experience before the exam begins.

Each student will receive a Mech Integrity Certificate of Completion for the API 982 training course which lists the CPD hours, and students can also add the certification to their LinkedIn profile.
